Five disabled students succeed in HSC in Khulna

Khulna, October 17, 2025 : Five students from the Government Speech, Hearing and Visually Impaired School (PHT) Center in Khulna participated in the HSC examination this year. All five passed the examination. The students of the institution achieved 100 percent success.

Among the students, 3 are visually impaired and 2 are speech-hearing impaired. Out of the 3 visually impaired students, 2 got an 'A' grade, one got an 'A minus' grade, and out of the two speech-hearing impaired students, one got a 'B' grade and one got a 'C' grade.

Among them, visually impaired Mosa. Firoza Khatun and her younger sister Mosa. Sonia Khatun showed their surprise. They participated from Daulatpur Muhsin Women's College, Khulna. Their dream is to become teachers and teach disabled children. They are excited about the results.

Meanwhile, the PHT Center authorities, teachers and classmates are happy with their success. Elder sister Firoza Khatun said, My younger sister and I were admitted to the first class of the PHT Center in Khulna. We have been here for 13 years. We studied together. Both of us participated in the HSC examination from Daulatpur Muhsin Women's College this time. I passed with a GPA of 4. And younger sister Sonia got 4.67 points. 

Talking about his dream, he said, "I want to become a teacher. As a teacher, I will educate my younger brothers and sisters with disabilities."

Younger sister Sonia Khatun said, it would have been possible to do better if there were all kinds of facilities. Especially if there were books in the bail system. There were ICT, Bengali and English bail system books. The rest had to be memorized by listening. I said it in the exam and a shruti writer wrote it. We are happy with the results.

She said, "Since we were admitted to the PHT Center in 2013, we two sisters have been studying together. The teachers there have been very supportive of us."

Although our village is in Koyra Upazila, both my parents went to India for work in 2016. They are still there. Now my dream is to stand by the backwaters. To educate disabled children. That is why I dream of becoming a teacher.

Not only Firoza and Sonia, 100% of the visually and speech impaired students of the PHT Center who participated in the HSC passed. Along with the two of them, speech impaired Shammi Akhter also passed this year's HSC. Although she cannot speak or hear, she communicates with teachers through gestures. At the same time, she can express herself by writing. With the help of the authorities and teachers, Shammi was asked questions through gestures. She answered them by writing and gesturing.

Shammi said that her father is Salam Sheikh from Faridpur and her mother is Jahanara Begum. She is very happy to have passed this year's exam. Five residents of Goalkhali PHT Center in Khulna have participated in this year's HSC and passed. In addition, visually impaired resident of PHT Center, Moyna Khatun Runa, passed with a GPA of 3.75 and speech and hearing impaired Mitu with 3.04 points.

Nargis Akhter, assistant supervisor of Goalkhali PHT Center in Khulna, said, "Our two sisters, Firoza and Sonia, who live here, have achieved very good results. We are happy that all 5 participants of this year's HSC passed together, we are happy to get the results."

Md. Shafiqul Islam, supervisor of Goalkhali PHT Center and assistant director of the social service office in Khulna, said, "The government school for the hearing and visually impaired is called the PHT Center. This year, 5 girls from here participated in the HSC examination. Out of them, 3 are visually impaired and 2 are speech-hearing impaired." 

Out of the 3 visually impaired students, 2 passed with an 'A' grade, one with an 'A minus' grade, and out of the 2 speech and hearing impaired students, one with a 'B' grade and one with a 'C' grade. The students of the center passed with a 100% pass rate. We are happy about this.
