Bulbul is the new BCB president

Dhaka, May 30, 2025 (Sports Desk):- Former national team captain Aminul Islam Bulbul has been elected as the new president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Bulbul has replaced former captain Faruk Ahmed as the 16th president of the BCB.

The National Sports Council (NSC) cancelled Faruk Ahmed's nomination last night. The NSC confirmed the matter through a press release.

Bulbul was announced as the board director on the nomination of NSC at the board meeting this afternoon. He was then elected president by the other board directors.

Nazmul Abedin Fahim and Fahim Sinha were finalized as vice-presidents in the same meeting.

Bulbul is a unique name in the cricket history of Bangladesh. He played cricket for more than a decade for the national team. Bulbul played 530 runs in 13 Tests and 794 runs in 39 ODIs for the country.

Bulbul was the captain of the Bangladesh team in the 1999 ODI World Cup. He made his place in the record books by scoring a century in the country's first Test match.

After retiring from international cricket in 2002, Bulbul completed Level Two in coaching in Australia and joined the coaching panel of the University of New South Wales.

Bulbul held various positions at the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) for over a decade, most recently as the ICC's Development Manager for the Asia region.

After the political situation changed, the National Sports Council appointed Faruk Ahmed and Nazmul Abedin Fahim first as councilors and later as directors. Later, Faruk was elected BCB president by the directors' vote. Nine months later, the NSC cancelled that nomination.
