Lalmonirhat, May 19, 2025 :- The juicy and tempting fruit litchi has started appearing in limited quantities in various markets of the district at the beginning of the honey month of Jyishtha. Although the supply is currently low, the presence of litchi in the market has already increased the interest of fruit lovers. Although the price of litchi is slightly higher, there is no lack of excitement among buyers.

The supply of mangoes, jackfruit and other seasonal fruits is also increasing during this time. The Agriculture Department and local traders hope that like other years, the production and marketing of seasonal fruits will bring vitality to the district's economy.

According to the district agriculture department, local varieties of litchi have already been introduced in the market. Soon, Bombay, China-3 and Madras varieties of litchi will also be introduced in the market. Farmers are also showing increasing interest in cultivating these varieties as they are more profitable.

Seasonal traders have set up temporary shops in various areas of the city, including BDR Gate, Mission More, Paurbazar, Goshala Bazar, Chandni Bazar, Bus Terminal, Railway Station and Court Bazar. Customers are getting attractive and quality litchis in these shops.

Another businessman, Motaleb Ali, said, "This year, I am cultivating litchi varieties of China-3, Bombay and Madras by leasing 50 percent of my land. Wholesalers from the capital Dhaka have already started buying litchi from my garden."
