BCB wants to promote cricket in Rangpur

Rangpur, June 29, 2025 (BSS): Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul has said that all efforts will be made to promote cricket in Rangpur.

Board President Aminul expressed his disappointment after seeing the outfield of the local cricket garden. He said, "Such an outfield is never acceptable for a cricket ground. There is a lot of room for improvement here."

Responding to a question from reporters that despite being a divisional city, Rangpur does not have a divisional stadium, including an indoor one, Aminul said, "I will discuss this issue with the government. This is sad."

BCB President Aminul made these remarks at a day-long celebration organized at Rangpur Cricket Gardens to mark Bangladesh's 25th anniversary of achieving Test status in cricket.

Bulbul said, "Cricket is not just centered in Dhaka. Efforts are being made to spread it everywhere. Bangladesh will also move forward in a new direction by correcting the mistakes of the past in producing good quality players and coaching staff."

At the same time, the board president promised to open the doors to all kinds of facilities for the players, including an international-standard cricket stadium and academy in Rangpur.

At that time, he also said that like other divisional cities across the country, Rangpur also has the right to get all those benefits. Because several cricketers from Rangpur are representing the national team. The cricketers here have talent. The BCB will definitely evaluate that talent.

Meanwhile, no league or tournament has been held in Rangpur in the last 5 years. Regarding this, Aminul said, 'I don't know what happened before, but now everything will be done in phases. No region will be neglected. Players from all regions will be brought under evaluation. There will be age-based leagues and tournaments in all divisions.

Later, the BCB president held a meeting with the district and divisional administration. He spoke to the parents. In addition, Aminul spoke to the local young cricketers and encouraged them.
