BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said that the country needs an elected government at this moment, because without an elected government, foreign investment will not come to the country.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at a view-sharing meeting titled 'Rangpur Division's Economic Restoration and Political Rights for Development' organized by the Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the chamber building on Thursday (July 31) afternoon.

Amir Khasru Mahmud said that the country has been continuously falling behind politically, economically and socially due to the lack of a genuine elected government for a long time. If there is an elected government, they have to be accountable to the people, but an unelected government has no accountability. The people's demands can only be presented to an elected government.

He further said that after Sheikh Hasina went abroad, a big change has come about among the people. People's hopes and aspirations are now skyrocketing. Those who cannot hold onto these aspirations and expectations, be they political leaders or political parties, have no future in Bangladesh.

This top BNP leader said, "If BNP gets the responsibility of running the state, and if the people vote for BNP, then we are already making preparations to run the country in a planned manner. So that it is possible to take effective decisions from the first day of the government."

The meeting was presided over by Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Emdadul Hossain. BNP National Executive Committee Organizing Secretary Advocate Asadul Habib Dulu, BNP Chairperson's Advisor Dr. Ziauddin Haider, local BNP leaders and various businessmen also spoke at the meeting.

Businessmen, entrepreneurs, political representatives and leaders from different areas of Rangpur division participated in the meeting. The meeting discussed various aspects of revitalizing Rangpur's lagging economy, expanding industry and trade, political stability and creating a business-friendly environment.
