This production activity officially began on Saturday (August 9) morning from the new phase of the mine, number 1406. Earlier, production was stopped on June 23 due to the exhaustion of coal reserves in the old phase 1305. A target of extracting about 3.94 lakh tonnes of coal has been set from here.

According to the mining authority, a total of 501,000 tons of coal have been extracted from Phase 1305 from January 23 to June this year. The new phase plans to extract 1,500 to 2,000 tons of coal daily in the first week and 3,000 to 3,500 tons in the subsequent weeks.

The extracted coal will be supplied to the Barapukuria Thermal Power Plant, which the mine authorities hope will help continue uninterrupted power generation.
