Published: 27 September 2025 : The enchanting Kanchenjunga at the foot of the Himalayas, the tea gardens of the plains, the nature surrounding the border... All in all, Tentulia is becoming a new destination for tourism.

Today, on the occasion of World Tourism Day, a new name has been added to the country's tourism map - Tentulia in Panchagarh. This northernmost border upazila of the country is currently becoming a popular destination for tourists.

Located at the foothills of the Himalayas, Tentulia offers a breathtaking view of the world's third highest mountain, Kanchenjunga, at the end of the monsoon season and the beginning of winter. The combination of the immense beauty of nature, history, culture, and warm-hearted people has created a unique tourist environment.

This year, a large number of tourists may gather in Tentulia around the autumn Durga Puja holiday. Every tourist spot in Tentulia will be filled with tourists. However, despite seeing Kanchenjunga for the last two days, today Kanchenjunga is hidden behind clouds, but there is no disappointment for tourists. The peaceful nature, the flowers on the riverbank, the green procession of tea gardens and the historical structures have fascinated the tourists. Some have visited Banglabandha Zero Point, some have enjoyed the sunset on the Mahananda River. Some have taken their children to Rawshanpur Shishu Park or Anandagram. Mithila, a tourist from Dhaka, said, "Even though we didn't see Kanchenjunga in a peaceful and quiet environment, we were impressed by all the other beauties. The people's behavior, security, and environment here are very good."

There has been a rush of advance bookings at local hotels and motels in Tentulia for Kanchenjunga.

Md. Ujjwal Hossain, director of Tentulia's 'Kather Bari' residential hotel, said that the entire hotel is booked due to the sighting of Kanchenjunga for the last two days. They are struggling to cope with the demand of additional tourists. Jannat Hotel owner Md. Rana said, "Our business also does well when tourists come. When Kanchenjunga is seen, the number of tourists increases, and we are always ready."

Roni Miyaji, director of North Bangla Travel and Tourism, said, "Autumn, Hemant and winter are the tourist seasons in Tentulia. Although the enchanting view of Kanchenjunga is the main attraction for tourists, the nature and heritage here are also adding a new dimension to tourism." Meanwhile, special measures have been taken by the tourist police, police station police, and administration to ensure the safety of tourists.

Tourist Police Sub-Inspector Md. Rabbul Islam said, "Tetulia is a very safe tourist area. We are ready at all times to ensure that visitors can travel around without any problems." Tentulia Upazila Executive Officer Afroz Shaheen Khasru said, every year in autumn and winter, tourists increase here. Kanchenjunga has been visible for the last two days. Tentulia Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Afroz Shaheen Khasru said, Kanchenjunga has been visible from Tentulia for the last two days. And tourists from different parts of the country come here this season to enjoy this beauty. Since Tentulia is a tourist area on the one hand and Kanchenjunga is the season to see it on the other. Therefore, we have been keeping an eye on everything from accommodation arrangements for tourists. We are keeping an eye on them so that they do not suffer any harassment. We have also spoken to the people from residential hotels to transport so that they take the tourists' issue seriously. And we are working together with the police station, tourist police and upazila administration. If tourists have any problems, we will contact us directly and take immediate action. It is worth noting that the notable tourist attractions in and around Tentulia are: Kanchenjunga View Point

*Banglabandha Four-country Border *Zero Point, *Mahananda River and sunset, *Kazi & Kazi Tea Estate, *Dakbungalow Picnic Corner, *Roshanpur Children's Park and Anandagram. In addition, the local culture, along with the nature near the river and border, and the mountainous atmosphere, also provide additional enjoyment to tourists.

Tentulia is no longer just a border upazila - it is becoming the tourism hub of northern Bangladesh. With proper planning, infrastructure development and environmental protection, this region can become one of the country's major international tourism centers.
