Typhoid vaccine to be given to 850,000 children in Rangpur

Like the rest of the country, 8.5 lakh children will be given typhoid vaccine in Rangpur. Of these, 2 lakh 10 thousand 619 children in the city corporation area and 6 lakh 48 thousand 854 children in the 8 upazilas of the district. Already, 1 lakh 76 thousand 756 children in the district and 36 thousand 86 children in the city corporation have come under the registration. However, this vaccine will be given to all children, registered and unregistered. 

This information was given at a day-long consultation workshop at the Rangpur District Commissioner's office on Wednesday (October 8) afternoon.

Under the project titled 'Child, Adolescent and Women Development Awareness Campaign', a day-long consultation workshop was held at the district level with the participation of media workers under a special campaign on typhoid vaccine with the support of UNICEF Bangladesh. 

The orientation said, "Give one dose of TCD vaccine, free your child from the risk of typhoid." Under the Expanded Program for Immunization (EPI), children between the ages of 9 months and 15 years will be given typhoid vaccine. 

The chief guest at the consultation workshop was Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal. Syed A Momen, Director (Administration and Finance) of the Public Relations Department, Dhaka, joined the video conference from Dhaka.

Present at the event were District Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaheen Sultana, District Primary Education Officer Shahidul Islam, UNICEF Representative Manjur Ahmed. The entire event was conducted by Assistant Director of the District Information Office Alamgir Kabir. The day-long consultation workshop was organized by the District Information Office Rangpur.
