 Workshop on wheat and corn innovations in Dinajpur



Dinajpur, October 21, 2025 : A workshop titled Introduction and Expansion of Technological Innovations was held at the Wheat and Maize Institute in the district.

The workshop was held at the seminar room of Dinajpur Nashipur Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI) on Tuesday from 12 noon to 4 pm.

The chief guest of the event was Professor Dr. Mobasher Monem, Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission. The special guests were Professor ASM Golam Hafiz, Member of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, Md. Riaz Uddin, Additional Director of the Dinajpur Region of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dr. May. Rezaul Amin, Executive Director of the Cotton Development Board, Md. Azizul Islam, Former Additional Secretary, and Md. Belal Uddin, Former Director (Training) of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Dhaka. 

The workshop was chaired by Dr. Salahuddin Ahmed, Director General of Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute. The keynote address was presented by Dr. Md. Mahfuz Bajaj, Director (Planning, Training and Technology Transfer Wing) of BW MRI. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Md. Abdul Hakim, Director (Administration and Finance) of BW MRI. 

Dr. Nowrin Islam Toma, Senior Scientific Officer of BWMRI, presented the program.

The program stated that so far, the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute has developed 38 varieties of wheat and 20 varieties of hybrid maize. It was informed at the workshop that all steps will be taken to advance wheat and maize.

Earlier, the guests attending the workshop visited various research activities of the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute.

Teachers from Habiprob, officials from government and non-government organizations related to agricultural extension and research from different districts, farmer representatives, representatives of print and electronic media, and prominent figures of the area participated in the program.
