Kingsmen crowned champions in Super Over of T20 cricket tournament in Rangpur
With excitement spreading with every ball, Rangpur Kingsmen defeated Dinajpur Sunrisers in the Super Over in the final match of the T-20 cricket tournament to become champions.
The exciting final match between Rangpur Kingsmen and Dinajpur Sunrisers was held at the Collectorate Cricket Garden on Thursday (November 6) afternoon. Rangpur Kingsmen batted first in the match.
They lost 6 wickets in 20 overs, scoring 176 runs. Dinajpur Sunrise batted with a target of 177 runs in the second half of the game. Sunrise was losing at one stage of the game. But Dinajpur Sunrise came back into the game with a few consecutive sixes. Finally, the game went to the last over. Dinajpur Sunrise lost all the wickets in 20 overs and scored 177 runs. As the game was drawn, the game went to the super over. Dinajpur Sunrise scored 13 runs in 6 balls in the super over. Later, Rangpur Kingsman batted with a target of 14 runs. 2 runs in the first two balls and a six in the third ball, a dot in the fourth ball, a run in the fifth ball and another six in the last ball. In the end, Rangpur Kingsman won by 14 runs. Rangpur captain Salauddin Pappu was adjudged the Man of the Series and Best Batsman, Dinajpur's Raisul Islam Ankon was adjudged the Best Bowler, and Rony Faisal was adjudged the Man of the Tournament.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal handed over the trophies to the champion and runner-up teams of the tournament. Present at the event were - Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Rangpur and convener of the tournament committee Md. Ramiz Alam, Additional Superintendent of Police Joynal Abedin, Director of Bangladesh Cricket Board Md. Hasanuzzaman, District Sports Officer Masud Rana, member of the District Sports Association Farhan Tanvir Fahim, etc. The T20 cricket tournament started on October 22 with the participation of 8 teams from 8 districts of Rangpur division. This tournament was organized by the Rangpur District Administration and District Sports Association.
