Rangpur Development Authority gazette published, city residents excited

Rangpur, November 27, 2025 : After a long wait, the gazette for the formation of the Rangpur Development Authority has finally been published. The residents of the city are excited about this news. They say that it is not enough to just stop at the gazette publication, but it must be implemented quickly.

They said, "We are happy that the gazette has been published to form the Rangpur Development Authority, but we want its implementation quickly."

The government has published a gazette to form the Rangpur Development Authority to protect the environment and ecological balance along with planned urbanization. The decision was announced in a notification of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs through this government gazette on Wednesday night. Earlier, on June 8, 2014, the Cabinet Secretary Committee meeting at the Secretariat gave in-principle approval to form the 'Rangpur Development Authority'.

Rangpur District Citizens for Good Governance (SUJON) President Fakhrul Anam Benju said that the gazette of the Rangpur Development Authority has been published as a result of a long-standing movement. The people of Rangpur are waiting for a planned city through the rapid implementation of the Rangpur Development Authority.

He further said that the current Rangpur has become a city of unplanned urbanization. Multi-storey buildings are being built around it without any regard for rules and regulations. Starting from the main and important roads of the city, other roads and sidewalks are now in the possession of others. Therefore, I am hopeful that Rangpur will become a clean, planned, green and organized city through the rapid implementation of the Rangpur Development Authority.

Meanwhile, the gazette publication of the Rangpur Development Authority has put an end to the long-standing file-locked situation. Now, the people of Rangpur expect the Rangpur Development Authority to implement it quickly.

Journalist Salequzzaman Salek, president of the Rangpur Journalists Union, said, "We do not want to see the Rangpur Development Authority limited to the gazette. If this is implemented quickly, the neglected Rangpur will benefit at least to some extent. Rangpur city will come out of unplanned urbanization."
