I Have a Plan: Tarique Rahman

Dhaka, December 25, 2025: Returning to the country after 17 years, BNP leader Tarique Rahman stood on stage at a rally of lakhs of people in Purbachal of the capital and recalled the immortal words of Martin Luther King; in line with that immortal word, he said, 'I have a plan'.

Addressing the countrymen, Tarique Rahman said, 'Dear brothers and sisters, Martin Luther King—have you heard the name? Have you heard the name? Martin Luther King, he has a famous dialogue—'I Have a Dream'. Today, standing on the soil of Bangladesh, I want to say in front of all of you, as a member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, I want to say in front of you—'I Have a Plan; For the People of My Country, For My Country.'

He said, "Today, this plan is for the benefit of the people of the country, for the development of the country, for changing the fate of the people of the country; if that plan, that program, that plan has to be implemented—dear brothers and sisters, all the people present in this ocean of people, the power of democracy throughout Bangladesh—all the people present; I will need the cooperation of every single person."

He also said, "If you stand by us, if you cooperate with us, God willing, we will be able to implement 'I Have a Plan'."

After returning home after 17 years of exile, Tarique Rahman reached the reception venue on 300 feet road in Purbachal, Dhaka. There, he spoke for 16 minutes on a stage set up by the party. Top leaders of the party and top leaders of various political parties were present on the stage.

Tarique Rahman's return to his homeland after a long decade and a half has generated immense interest, curiosity and emotion among the political arena, leaders, activists, supporters and the general public across the country. This return is not just the return of a leader, but a convergence of universal expectations and desires, which has been linked to the end of a long wait and the largest public gathering in the history of Bangladesh.
