Law and order situation deteriorates in Rangpur: 13 murders, 37 rapes in 3 months

Concerns have increased due to the deteriorating law and order situation in Rangpur. In the last 3 months, 13 murders have occurred in Rangpur. In addition, 37 people have been raped. 899 crimes have been committed in those three months. Which has created extreme anxiety among the people.

Additional District Magistrate Christopher Himel Richil gave this information at a meeting on law and order in the district at the auditorium of the District Commissioner's office on Sunday (December 14) afternoon.

According to the information, 6 people were murdered in Rangpur district in September this year. In addition, 35 people were robbed, 4 were kidnapped and 9 were raped. 28 people were subjected to violence against women. A total of 304 crimes were committed in September. In October, 5 people were murdered in the district. There were thefts at 32 places. Out of these, 3 cases of theft of sidhel also occurred at 3 places. In addition, 3 cases of kidnapping and 41 cases of torture of women and children were reported. 21 cases of rape occurred in the district. There was also a robbery in October. In total, 313 crimes were committed this month.

In November, 2 murders occurred in Rangpur district. In addition, there were 20 thefts and 2 cases of theft of sidewalls. This month, 3 kidnappings also occurred. 35 women and children were subjected to torture. In addition, 7 people were raped in November. The total number of crimes committed this month was 282. The meeting on law and order was chaired by Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Ahsan and was attended by District Police Superintendent Md. Marufat Hussain, Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaheen Sultana, Government Lawyer Abdul Hadi Belal, and various law enforcement officials, political leaders, and representatives of civil society.
