Rangpur was once known as the 'plough base'. The Jatiya Party considered the greater Rangpur region as an impregnable fortress for a long time from that base. But in the past, the fallen Awami League attacked that fortress. As a result, the Jatiya Party lost two-thirds of the parliamentary seats in the region. When the Jatiya Party was worried about whether it would be able to participate in the 13th National Parliament elections, it was doubtful whether it would be able to participate in the remaining seats. However, that doubt about participating in the elections has already been dispelled. The Jatiya Party will be able to participate in the 13th National Parliament elections. The Jatiya Party finalized its participation in the elections by raising the nomination form of the party chairman in Rangpur 3 Sadar constituency. Two days later, the Jatiya Party finalized its candidates for the 6 parliamentary constituencies in Rangpur. Although it has been in hiding like the leaders and activists of the banned Awami League for so long, the Trinamool has once again become very excited by collecting nominations. The leaders and activists of the Jatiya Party have become vocal since the fact that they will participate in the elections was confirmed.
According to party sources, popular and well-known people have been nominated by the party to save the fort. London-based barrister Manjum Ali has received the party nomination for Rangpur-1 (Gangachara) constituency, former MP Anisul Islam Mandal for Rangpur-2 (Taraganj-Badarganj) constituency, Golam Mohammad Quader (GM Quader) for Rangpur-3 (Sadar) constituency, former Upazila Chairman Abu Naser Md Shah Mahbubur Rahman for Rangpur-4 (Pirgachha-Kaunia) constituency, industrialist SM Fakhruzzaman Jahangir for Rangpur-5 (Mithapukur) constituency and Nur Alam Jadu for Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency.
Meanwhile, after the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, the Jatiya Party, as an allied partner of the Awami League, was called a friend by the forces supporting the July Uprising. Although the Jatiya Party was in the field on behalf of the students and the people during the July Movement. During this, the Jatiya Party also played an important role in the student and public movement in Rangpur. Some of the Jatiya Party members had to go to jail at that time. Because of which the then Awami League reprimanded the Jatiya Party leaders and activists. However, since the matter of participating in the elections was confirmed, the Trinamool became very excited. The Jatiya Party leaders and activists have become vocal in the election field.
Barrister Manjum Ali, who was excited after receiving the Jatiya Party's party nomination for Rangpur-1 (Gangachara) constituency, said, "For a long time, the people of Gangachara have not got a local MP. Since there is no local MP, they could not understand the minds of the people of the area. Due to which the planned development has not touched Gangachara. Therefore, the people of Gangachara expected a local candidate this time. Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader (GM Quader) and other central leaders have understood the matter and nominated me as a local candidate this time. I am also optimistic. I want to gift the seat to the Jatiya Party." At this time, he sought prayers from the people of Gangachara.
Regarding these issues, Jatiya Party Presidium Member and District President Ajmal Hossain Lebu said, the greater Rangpur region has always been the base of the Jatiya Party. That base is still intact. The Jatiya Party has nominated popular and dedicated leaders in the area to rescue the base in the 13th National Parliament election. After receiving the nomination, the candidates have started working in the field. The response from the field is good. Everyone is eager to vote. We will also try to make the party candidates win as much as possible along with the people. We are optimistic that if there is a free, fair and impartial election, the Jatiya Party will regain the seats it lost with pride.
