Badiul Alam Majumdar, editor of Sujan for Good Governance, said that Sheikh Hasina did not come to power by riding a tank, nor did she come to power by flying. She did not abolish the constitution, although she radically changed and rewrote it through the 15th Amendment. Sheikh Hasina has become a monster by using an authoritarian structure. If this authoritarian structure exists, then the possibility of those who come to power later also becoming dictators cannot be ruled out.

He said these things at a departmental workshop on 'Post-Uprising Aspirations, Reforms and Election Manifesto' at the RDRS Begum Rokeya Auditorium in Rangpur on Saturday (January 17) afternoon.

Badiul Alam Majumdar said that if we do not demonstrate democratic values, then there will be no fair elections. Even if the answer is 'yes' in this referendum and these are included in the constitution, we will not be completely free from the authoritarian system. Because it largely depends on our democratic values, on our political culture. If we do not demonstrate democratic values, then there will be no fair elections. If we do not bring about a change in political culture, then we will not have fair elections and a democratic transition.

Sujan Sadaktar said, I hope that the next national elections will be held on February 12, there is no alternative. In order for a fair and impartial election to take place, our political parties and their candidates will behave well in this regard. The government will play its role correctly, impartially. We hope that the law and order situation will be controlled and the Election Commission will formulate laws and regulations impartially.

Regarding the government's campaign for a 'yes' vote in the referendum, Badiul Alam Majumder said, "What we need to remember now is that this government is not a caretaker government. This government is the government of the post-August 5 uprising. There was a law, a legal framework for the caretaker government, and the responsibility of the caretaker government was for three months. After the election, they could not take any decision on any policy issues and they would have left after three months. But this government came on the basis of several priorities - elections, reforms, and justice. They have formed 11 reform commissions to carry out these reforms. Therefore, the government is committed to these reforms and therefore they can campaign for a 'yes' vote in favor of these reforms."

Rangpur District Citizens for Good Governance President Fakhrul Anam Benju, Metropolitan President Advocate Jobaidul Islam Bullet, Jamaat's Rangpur Sadar 3 constituency candidate Mahbubar Rahman Belal, BAS's Abdul Quddus, Khelafat Majlis's Touhidur Rahman and other candidates also spoke at the event.
