Rangpur, January 29, 2026 : There is unwavering enthusiasm and excitement among the leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliated organizations as well as the general public on the occasion of Tarique Rahman's visit to Rangpur tomorrow, Friday.

He will join the party's huge divisional-level election rally at the city's Collectorate Eidgah Maidan on Friday at 4:30 pm on the occasion of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections to be held on February 12 as the chief guest.

BNP leaders are hoping that this tour will act as a tonic for BNP-nominated candidates from eight districts of Rangpur division in the upcoming elections. The voting equation may change.

Immediately after the news of Tarique Rahman's arrival in Rangpur spread, there was widespread enthusiasm among BNP leaders and activists and the general public.

The work of setting up the field and stage is progressing rapidly, and extensive security measures have been taken to ensure the safe arrival and departure of people with the utmost caution.

Government sources said that joint forces are searching for suspicious vehicles and people at the city's entrances, where a large number of CCTV cameras have been installed.

Surveillance has been increased at the city's entrances and important road intersections.

Organizers hope the election campaign will turn into a public outpouring, from where the BNP chairman will talk about future development plans, including the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan in the backward Rangpur region.

He will introduce the party's nominated candidates for the 13th National Parliament elections in 33 parliamentary constituencies in eight districts of Rangpur tomorrow during the divisional level election campaign.

Tarique Rahman, son of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia, is visiting Rangpur after more than two decades since distributing warm clothes to the cold-stricken people in 2004.

Leaders and activists of BNP, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Mahila Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Krishak Dal and other allied organizations are excited about Tarique Rahman's visit.

Campaigning is underway to make tomorrow's visit of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman a success, while maintaining the election rules and code of conduct.

More than 200 loudspeakers are being installed at Surabhi Udyan, DC intersection, district school, post office, Police Line intersection, City Bazaar and various other places in the city.

BNP Organizing Secretary (Rangpur Division) Principal Asadul Habib Dulu attended a preparatory meeting at Rangpur Chamber Building today ahead of Tarique Rahman's visit. Six BNP-nominated candidates for six constituencies in Rangpur were present there.

Later, at a press conference there, he presented various issues to the media personnel, including preparations for Tarique Rahman's visit to Rangpur, and answered various questions.

Principal Asadul Habib Dulu said, "We have spoken to BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman several times about various problems and development deprivation in Rangpur division, including the Teesta Master Plan. He is aware of our problems. He will inform about his plans for the development of Rangpur in the public meeting."

Speaking to BSS today, Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Member-Secretary Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi Don said that extensive preparations are underway to welcome party chairman Tarique Rahman to Rangpur after more than two decades since 2004 and to make the visit a success.

Shahidul Islam Mizu, senior joint convener of Rangpur Metropolitan BNP and former general secretary of Carmichael College Central Students Union, said that Tarique Rahman's Rangpur visit and rally will have a huge impact on the upcoming 13th national parliamentary elections.

He said, "At the rally, Tarique Rahman will present his development plan for the Rangpur region and seek votes for the BNP nominated candidates in the 13th National Parliament election. We are happy and excited by his arrival after so long."

Rangpur District BNP convener and candidate for Rangpur-6 (Pirganj) constituency Md. Saiful Islam said that all preparations are underway to welcome party chairman Tarique Rahman.

During the visit, Tarique Rahman will visit the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed, who was killed in police firing in 2024, in front of Begum Rokeya University in Babanpur village of Pirganj upazila tomorrow at 3:45 pm.

Later, he will attend an election rally in Rangpur city at 4:30 pm.

Rangpur Metropolitan BNP convener and candidate for Rangpur-3 constituency (part of Sadar and Rangpur City) Md. Shamsuzzaman Samu said that there is great enthusiasm among the leaders and activists surrounding the arrival of party chairman Tarique Rahman in Rangpur.

Rangpur Metropolitan Police has made all kinds of security arrangements for BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman's election rally. In addition to uniformed police, there will be armed and plainclothes law enforcement members.

In addition to public gatherings, regular patrols will be conducted at checkpoints, important entrances, and intersections throughout the city. In addition, adequate law enforcement personnel will be present at the field and throughout the city.

After addressing an election rally in Rangpur, Tarique Rahman will leave for Bogra.

Local political analysts say that party leaders and activists in Rangpur are excited about BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman's public rally.

His arrival in Rangpur division could change the vote tally for this area in the 13th National Parliament election.

Maulana Azizul Islam, senior joint convener of the Rangpur Metropolitan Ulama Party, said, "We have been waiting for Tarique Rahman to come to Rangpur for a long time."

Meanwhile, BNP leaders and activists said that BNP will form a government under the leadership of Tarique Rahman on February 12 through the people's vote, and he will free Rangpur from discrimination and take it into the mainstream of development.

The BNP Rangpur division will present various demands to Tarique Rahman for the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan in Rangpur, employment creation through industrialization, and overall development including education and health.

Leaders and activists from eight districts of Rangpur division will participate in this public meeting in large numbers.

BNP party sources said that Tarique Rahman will visit the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed in Babanpur village of Pirganj upazila at 3:45 pm on Friday on his way from Bogra to Rangpur for his election tour.

From there, he will address an election rally organized by BNP at 3:30 pm at the Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah ground.

He will return to Bogra from Rangpur that night. After spending the night there, Tarique Rahman will participate in public meetings in Sirajganj and Tangail the next day, Saturday.
