International Customs Day celebrated in Rangpur
Rangpur, January 26, 2026 : International Customs Day was celebrated in Rangpur. The day was celebrated today through various programs initiated by the Rangpur Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate.
On this occasion, a seminar was held at the conference room of the 'Agamir Chashi' Community Center located in Kamal Kachna of the city.
Mohammad Lutfar Rahman, President of the Customs, Excise and VAT Appellate Tribunal, was present as the chief guest at the seminar, chaired by Mohammad Shafiur Rahman, Commissioner of the Rangpur Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate.
The seminar was addressed as special guests by Additional Tax Commissioner of Tax Region-Rangpur Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Superintendent of Police of Rangpur Range Police Muhammad Alamgir Hossain and Commander of Rangpur 59 BGB Battalion Lt. Col. Selim Al Deen.
Also present on behalf of the business community were President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Emdadul Hossain, Senior Vice President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md. Nurul Islam Patu, Executive Director of Uttara Export Processing Zone (EPZ) of Nilphamari Mohammad Abdul Jabbar.
The speakers at the seminar said that the role of VAT and customs duties in accelerating the development and progress of the country is immense. To make the country self-reliant, it is important for every citizen to pay VAT correctly.
The speakers urged the businessmen to pay VAT properly and said that paying VAT is not a burden, but rather one of the tools to strengthen the economic foundation of the country.
Officials from various levels of the Customs and VAT departments, prominent businessmen, and media personnel were present at the event.
