Candidates pledge to build a welfare-oriented governance system
The event was organized by the Nagorik-Sujan Upazila Committee for Good Governance at the Gangachara Government Model High School grounds on Saturday (January 31) afternoon. The candidates presented their expectations to the public and answered various questions at the event, chaired by Upazila Sujan Committee President Principal Nooran Nabi. During the event, they signed the pledge and made a pledge in front of the public by placing their hands in each other's hands.
In their pledge, the candidates said that if elected, they will take appropriate steps to establish a corruption-free, effective and public welfare governance system in the area. They will not allow nepotism and partisanship to prevail in the discharge of their duties. They also expressed their determination to work together by extending all-out cooperation to the winner and welcoming the defeated candidate with a hug. The people present at the event took an oath that they would vote for the deserving candidate and win - they would not vote in exchange for black money. All five candidates from Rangpur-1 constituency were present in the 13th National Parliament election. They were Islami Andolan Bangladesh candidate ATM Golam Mostafa Babu, Islamic Front Bangladesh candidate Md. Anas, BSD-Marxist Ahsanul Arefin, BNP candidate Mukarram Hossain Sujan, and Jamaat candidate Raihan Siraji. Other speakers at the event included District Sujan President Principal Fakrul Anam Benju, General Secretary Nasima Amin, Headmaster of Gangachara Government Model High School Abdul Akher Miah, Metropolitan Sujan Secretary Golam Sajjad Swadhin, Upazila Sujan members Sujan Ahmed, Khademul Islam Emon, Youth Mehjabin Mou. Area Coordinator of The Hunger Project Md. Shamsuddin, along with Sujan leaders, journalists and youth members were present.
