Polytechnic students block road in Dinajpur demanding 7 points

Students of the Polytechnic Institute in Dinajpur have blocked roads demanding seven-point demands, protesting against the attempts by mobs, terrorists, and B.Sc degree holders to sabotage the national parliament elections, and demanding the abolition of the inter-ministerial committee.

They blocked the road at the city's Polytechnic intersection at 10 am on Tuesday (February 3). The students started the blockade program under the banner of the student movement. They raised their demands by blocking the road and chanting slogans.

During the procession, the protesters chanted slogans like "Who are you, who am I?", "Diploma engineer," "I will give my life but I will not give you the tenth grade," "How long will you burn the autos, talented people?", "Let the weapon of 13 roar once more," etc.

The demands of the students are: Dividing the engineering workplace into desk and field engineering, deploying BSC engineers in desk and diploma engineers in field engineering, and preserving the posts of deputy assistant engineers/equivalent for 10th grade diploma engineers in the light of the government notification. To prevent wastage of talent along with introducing a one-way engineering education system, preventing career changes of engineers and appointing administrative cadre manpower in administrative posts in engineering organizations. Increasing the promotion rate from deputy assistant engineer/equivalent posts to assistant engineer/equivalent posts to 50%. According to the international engineering team concept, determining the ratio of BSC engineers, diploma engineers and skilled manpower in the manpower structure of all engineering organizations at 1:5:25. Recruiting teachers in a teacher-student ratio of 1:12 in polytechnics and polytechnic institutes and TSCs and modernizing the Diploma in Engineering curriculum by converting it to English. Creation of higher education opportunities through credit transfer for Diploma Engineering certificate holders in all engineering and technology universities and engineering colleges; Increasing merit scholarships for students studying in polytechnic institutes: Declaring the degree obtained as B.Sc (Pass)/equivalent. Immediate and full implementation of the 6-point demands raised by the Technical Students' Movement, Bangladesh.
