BGB deployed at oil depot in Rangpur
Published: 28 March 2026 : Like the rest of the country, BGB has been deployed at oil depots in Rangpur on the orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs to prevent attempts to hoard fuel oil, maintain discipline in fuel oil marketing, and ensure uninterrupted supply.
Mohsin Ali, Sales Officer of Jamuna Petroleum Rangpur region, confirmed the deployment of BGB at the oil depots on Saturday (March 28) afternoon. He said that BGB has been deployed at three depots in Rangpur - Padma, Meghna and Jamuna - on the instructions of the Home Ministry.
Meanwhile, like the rest of the country, there is a severe fuel crisis in Rangpur. Almost all the oil pumps in Rangpur district are closed. Although oil is available at a few pumps, motorcyclists have to stand in long lines to collect it. This has caused extreme suffering for motorcyclists. Not getting enough oil has created anger among them. On the other hand, pump owners claim that oil is not being supplied as per demand. Due to which this crisis has arisen.
Rangpur Organizing Secretary of the Petrol Pump Owners Association, Riaz Ahmed Shovon, said that for the past few days, the supplying companies have been supplying much less fuel than the demand. Due to which there has been a crisis in oil. At this time, he requested the administration to deploy police at petrol pumps for the security of the pumps.
