Rangpur City Corporation announces waste removal within 8 hours

Rangpur, May 27, 2026 (BSS): Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Administrator Advocate Mahfuz Un-Nabi Chowdhury Don has urged the city residents to slaughter sacrificial animals at designated places.

At the same time, he also announced that the city would be given the gift of a clean city by removing waste within eight hours on Eid.

He made this announcement while talking to reporters after visiting the Rangpur Collectorate Eidgah on Wednesday afternoon.

Calling on the city residents not to sacrifice animals anywhere, Mahfuz Un-Nabi Chowdhury Don said that arrangements have been made for slaughtering sacrificial animals at 66 designated places in 33 wards of the city. An awareness campaign is being conducted to ensure that no one slaughters animals in open spaces and on roads except at designated places.

He said, "Water supply for animal sacrifice at the designated place of the slaughterhouse, good arrangements for receiving services, Imam and Muazzin for the sacrifice, and butchers for cutting meat have been placed alongside the Huzoors of mosques and madrasas. Bleaching powder will be provided to prevent the stench of waste after the sacrifice. We want the city residents to slaughter animals at designated places instead of slaughtering them anywhere."

The city administrator also appealed to not throw animal waste into the city's drains, including Shyamasundari Canal and KD Canal, saying, "We want to remove the waste of sacrificial animals and dump it in the right place. For this, the cooperation of the city residents is needed. We appeal to everyone not to throw animal waste anywhere, but to throw it in the dustbin."

He further said that the sanitation workers will work from the morning of Eid. All kinds of preparations have been made to remove the waste of sacrificial animals as soon as possible. The waste removal activity will be inaugurated in front of the city hall at around 2 pm on Eid.

12 hours have been set for waste removal. However, we want to complete the waste removal work within 8 hours.

The cleaning department of the city has completed all preparations to ensure the proper management and removal of sacrificial animal waste. 1,069 city cleaning workers will be divided into three zones to complete the waste removal process. Trolleys, rickshaw vans and trucks will be used for this. He also urged people to contact the hotline number 01733390150 for animal waste removal.

Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Amin, former councilor of Ward No. 19 Mahmudur Rahman Titu, and officials of the City Corporation's Waste Management Department were present during the inspection of the Eidgah.
