Measles-rubella vaccine to be given to 335,000 children in Rangpur
The Rangpur City Corporation and the District Civil Surgeon's Office announced this information at separate press conferences on Sunday (April 19). It was informed that children aged 6 months to 59 months will be given one dose of measles-rubella vaccine. A total of 334,999 children have been targeted for vaccination in this campaign. Of these, 78,628 are in the Rangpur City Corporation area and 256,371 are in the 8 upazilas of the district.
Rangpur City Corporation Administrator Advocate Mahfuz Un Nabi Don said that the activities will continue from 8 am to 4 pm at 280 vaccination centers in 33 wards of the city. 38 teams and 150 volunteers will work in this 14-day program.
He also said that if any problems arise after receiving the vaccine, parents have been advised not to panic and to immediately go to the nearest health center. If necessary, they have been asked to contact the concerned health officials.
On the other hand, District Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaheen Sultana said that this campaign will be conducted in 1,480 educational institutions and 1,822 temporary centers in the district. The target of vaccinating 32,408 children in educational institutions and 223,963 children at the community level has been set. Three service providers will be responsible for each center. The Health Department said that this vaccination campaign will play a very important role in keeping children safe and preventing infections.
